SEMPORNA: Sabah marine police have arrested a local man and seized 38 turtle parts at Kampung Bangau-Bangau here.
District marine police operations commander Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Ismail said acting on a tip-off, two personnel had gone to the village yesterday morning.
They introduced themselves to a 31-year-old Bajau Laut man and found the turtle organs inside a boat which was tied to a house.
"The offence is listed under the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997.
"The seizures and the man were taken to the Semporna Marine Police Force Base for further action by the Wildlife Department," he said in a statement.
The marine police also confiscated 25 marginal turtle scales worth RM3,500 and 13 turtle plastron valued at RM3,000.
Mohammad also said they had seized a boat (RM2,000), two pump engines (RM3,000), a knife, an axe, a hammer and a goggle mask.
