KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Wildlife Department today urged the public to report any illegal trade related to protected species in the country.
Referring to a report of a restaurateur who paid RM200 to rescue a pangolin, its director Augustine Tuuga said the action showed that there is public awareness in terms of protecting such species.
However, he said the act of buying it will encourage more wildlife poachers to sell pangolins illegally.
"We appreciate the concern of the public who love wildlife, but any incident of wildlife crime must be reported immediately.
