KUDAT: The newly launched Tun Mustapha Museum here can be one of the many tourist attractions here.
Sabah Museum director Arif Hamid said it was launched in March last year during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
"In conjunction with the state-level International Museum Day, we are exhibiting the small world of insects at the museum here as part of our activities.
"The exhibition is specially made for the people in the north of Sabah as the Tun Mustapha Museum is new and it is for the Kudat people.
"This place will also be another attraction apart from other tourism sites such as Tanjung Simpang Mengayau," he said after the launch of the exhibition here.
Apart from that, in conjunction with the celebration, Arif also said the department will also be providing free entrances to the public to its other museums such as Agnes Keith in Sandakan, Bukit Tengkorak Archeology and Tun Sakaran museums in Semporna, Heritage Museum in Keningau, among others.
Present was district officer Bakri Nanun who remarked that Kudat was once the state capital of Sabah and was also the birthplace of the first Yang diPertua Negeri and third Chief Minister Tun Datu Mustapha Datu Harun.
"With the exhibition, it will give an opportunity for youngsters and the community to come and learn about history.
"The museum displays the history of Tun Mustapha and showcases the first car used by him," he said, adding the site was also the late Mustapha's idea.
