In a statement, the foundation hopes that the funding would bring sustainable socio-economic and environmental changes in the country.
"This initiative will support the work of civil society organisations in the field, as the country moves towards an endemic phase of Covid-19, through programmes targeting marginalised or vulnerable groups, including those in Category 50 (B50).
"Marginalised groups also include indigenous people, the elderly, homeless, refugees, stateless and illegal immigrants, children, women, and youths as well as the disabled or people with special needs from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.
"The objective of this initiative will be to support the work of civil society organisations through grants to build resilience in education, community development, environment as well as arts and public spaces," according to Yayasan Hasanah.
The foundation will also emphasise efforts to enhance school leadership and maximise student potential and build the capacity of the mental health system.
It will also focus on providing continuous education support to students and teachers following the impact caused by the Covid-19 epidemic.
For community development, Yayasan Hasanah is ready to provide grants for projects that support and empower the community by using the Hasanah model of community-based approach (CBA) that helps to increase incomes and well-being.
"Yayasan Hasanah also supports efforts to empower the community through subsistence programmes and improve community well-being by focusing on the mental health effects of the Covid-19 outbreak."
"The foundation also supports efforts toward developing and improving community leadership to improve their quality of life."
As for the environmental aspect, Yayasan Hasanah is offering a "Kelestarian Perak" programme that focuses on the restoration, conservation, and protection of selected critical ecosystem networks, empowering community programmes, and collaboration with stakeholders.
It also outlined programmes to reduce plastic waste in selected communities, schools, and workplaces throughout the country.
Yayasan Hasanah also supports initiatives on the co-managing and monitoring of the natural ecosystems and biodiversity, increasing awareness and capacity-building opportunities for youth and community participation in environmental conservation, climate preparedness, and animal welfare programmes throughout the country.
Meanwhile, The Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC) general manager Viviantie Sarjuni said they were proud to collaborate with the Yayasan Hasanah.
She added SCENIC will help Yayasan Hasanah find qualified participants to apply for special grants provided by the foundation to implement social or non-profit projects in the state.
In line with the collaboration, SCENIC and Yayasan Hasanah are organising a 2022 Special Grant Open Day today at the Kota Kinabalu Marriott Hotel here from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm to provide more information about the grants.
