PENSIANGAN: An immigration control post facility in Pagalungan, Nabawan here is set to bring huge benefits to the people by spurring many economic activities.

Pensiangan member of parliament Datuk Arthur Kurup said the facility, which was mentioned by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakob during the Jelajah Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia in the state capital yesterday, would bring about good things.

Ismail Sabri had said that the people around Pagalungan, Nabawan would be able to travel to Kalimantan, Indonesia by getting their border crossing passes at the Pagalungan Immigration Control Post.

This was more convenient than travelling more than 100 km to Keningau to get the pass, said Arthur.

"The approval will make it easy for the people from the subdistrict of Pagalungan to do immigration procedures and it will facilitate movement between the state and neighbouring country.

"The facility will open up more opportunities for the economy. It can further enhance development in the Pensiangan constituency," Arthur told reporters at the opening of the Nabawan Malaysian Ex-Police Association (PBPM) general meeting here today.

Arthur, who is Deputy Works Minister, said the new immigration facility was among the beneficial projects in the constituency.

Another effort to upgrade the 96km-long Jalan Sapulut-Pagalungan-Pensiangan will also spur the economy here, he said.

The association, which was established in 2018, has approximately 320 members in the area.

Arthur donated RM10,000 to the association as a gesture of appreciation for the services and sacrifices made by the former policemen.
