KOTA KINABALU: More than 100 graduates and diploma holders in Sabah are undergoing training courses in South Korea for crucial industries.
The courses include engineering, maintenance, production and logistics.
The programme was organised by South Korean company SK Nexilis, which is building its foil manufacturing facility at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park here.
SK Nexillis produces 15 per cent of the global copper foils for electric vehicle batteries.
Its chief executive officer, Yi Jaehong, said up to last month, the facility was 68.8 per cent complete and it was expected to be ready before the end of the year.
The RM2.3 billion project, which started in 2021, would have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes upon completion.
Yi said SK Nexilis expected to roll out its first production between September and October.
"SK Nexilis wishes to thank the Sabah government and the chief minister for facilitating our investment in Sabah," he said when meeting Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in Sri Gaya here.
Hajiji thanked SK Nexilis for choosing Sabah to set up its first overseas facility and assured that the state government was committed to facilitating more investments to the state.
Present were Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Minister Phoong Jin Zhe and Permanent Secretary Datuk Thomas Logijin.
