KOTA KINABALU: Newly elected Lamag assemblyman Mohd Ismail Ayob was sworn in as a member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.
The oath-taking ceremony began at 10am before Sabah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Panglima Kadzim M. Yahya at the State Legislative Assembly building here.
Mohd Ismail, 46, won the Lamag by-election under on Jan 24 under Barisan Nasional ticket with a majority of 5,681 votes.
The activist, fondly known as MIHA, defeated Parti Warisan Sabah candidate Mazliwati Abdul Malek.
Present during the ceremony was Sabah BN chief Datuk Jafry Ariffin, who is also Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister and Sukau assemblyman.
Lamag seat fell vacant after former Sabah BN chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin died few days after winning the seat Sabah 17th General Election last year.
