KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all parties to remain focused and ensure the implementation of all projects approved for the Kota Kinabalu district.
In a Facebook post today, Anwar said delays in project implementation would affect the wellbeing of the people.
Anwar reminded all stakeholders that the public had high expectations for projects with a direct impact on their daily lives, including efforts to upgrade roads and improve infrastructure.
"In my view, there should be no excuses for projects to be delayed due to inefficiency or bureaucracy, as any delay will ultimately affect the people's quality of life and hinder the state's potential for progress and development," he said.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the government remained committed to ensuring every planned project was implemented efficiently, transparently, and according to schedule so that benefits could be felt as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Anwar chaired the Kota Kinabalu Special Development Committee meeting at Menara Kinabalu here to discuss the strategic development agenda for the state capital.
The meeting, held from 1pm to 2pm, was also attended by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, several state cabinet members, and heads of relevant agencies.
Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is also state finance minister, and Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Rubin Balang, Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib, Sabah Community Development and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Mojungki, and Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah also attended the meeting.
The special committee meeting discussed the progress of ongoing programmes and projects, examined issues related to the wellbeing of the local community, and aimed to strengthen cooperation between the federal and state governments.
