KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional public holiday for Hari Raya Aidilfitri next week.
"If Hari Raya falls on Friday (March 20), the additional public holiday will be on Monday (March 23).
"Should it fall on Saturday (March 21), the additional holiday will be on Friday," he said during the National Consumers' Day event at a shopping mall here.
"Whether Aidilfitri is celebrated on Friday or Saturday, there is no need to worry — we will provide an additional Hari Raya holiday.
"We are announcing this early so the public can plan their Aidilfitri holidays," he said.
The extra day means there will be four public holidays for Hari Raya this year, with Friday (March 20) and Monday (March 23) confirmed as public holidays.
Also present were Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Mohd Ali.
