KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has approved an additional 77 teaching positions for state Islamic secondary and religious schools to meet rising demand for educators.
Sabah Islamic Affairs Department (JHEAINS) director Awang Juri Awang Tahir said the positions were recently approved as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the teaching workforce.
“The approval for 77 teaching posts has been obtained, and we will be submitting further applications in the future for the government’s consideration,” he said when met after a radio interview here on Thursday.
Awang Juri said discussions had also been held with the State Public Service Department and the State Public Service Commission to explore opportunities for further recruitment.
He noted that the need for religious school teachers has increased in tandem with the establishment of more state religious schools across several districts.
“Each new school must be matched with additional teachers to ensure the smooth implementation of teaching and learning,” he said.
He added that JHEAINS would continue to focus on balancing the expansion of schools with adequate staffing to safeguard the continuity and quality of education in state religious schools throughout Sabah.
