TUARAN: About 60 women entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners gained practical skills, mentorship and health support at a community event hosted by Shangri-La Rasa Ria in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
Centred on the theme “Give to Gain”, the programme focused on equipping participants with tools to grow their businesses and strengthen personal well-being.
Attendees received direct insights from entrepreneurs Melissa Lim of Rustic Borneo Craft and Jeanette Tambakau of Jari Jari Spa, who shared strategies on building sustainable brands, overcoming challenges and maintaining resilience in business.
A hands-on workshop by the resort’s marketing communications team introduced participants to digital marketing techniques, including the use of social media to expand market reach and develop brand identity.
The event also provided networking and mentorship opportunities, allowing participants to engage directly with established business figures and gain personalised advice on advancing their ventures.
In addition, attendees benefited from free health screenings conducted by Klinik Kesihatan Tuaran, highlighting the importance of preventive care alongside professional growth.
General manager Fiona Hagan said the initiative aimed to empower women with both knowledge and support systems.
The programme forms part of the resort’s ongoing efforts to support community development by enhancing entrepreneurial skills and promoting holistic well-being among women in Tuaran.
