SANDAKAN: Alpro Pharmacy has activated its Life-Saving Medication Care Programme to support victims of the Kampung Bahagia fire in Batu Sapi.
The early-morning blaze destroyed more than 1,000 homes and displaced over 9,000 residents, many of whom fled without medications or medical records.
The programme targets patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and asthma, who face health risks due to disrupted treatment.
Under the initiative, verified victims who have lost or damaged their medicines can receive a one-time supply of up to seven days of essential medication, subject to assessment by a medical team.
Chief pharmacist Lim En Ni said maintaining access to medication is critical during emergencies.
“When patients lose access to their medications, the risk of complications increases, particularly for those managing chronic conditions,” she said.
The initiative aims to restore access to treatment and provide professional guidance to affected individuals as recovery efforts continue.
