KOTA KINABALU: Italy aims to strengthen bilateral relations with Sabah by exploring new collaboration opportunities in tourism, higher education, and public health sectors.

Italy’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Raffaele Langella, said Sabah is becoming increasingly popular and well-known in Italy as a major tourist destination, while also attracting interest for its culture and industrial potential.

According to him, Italy is keen to explore collaboration opportunities in the university and tourism sectors, as well as discuss potential investments in public health.

He said this when met by the media after paying a courtesy call on the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Musa Aman, at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Monday.

Langella explained that the visit aimed to discuss these intentions and move toward more concrete forms of cooperation.

Touching on future expectations, he expressed hope that the visit would open doors to more meetings in the future to further deepen economic and diplomatic ties between both parties.

He also stated his commitment to return to Kota Kinabalu more frequently to ensure that every identified opportunity for collaboration can be fully utilized for mutual benefit.
