Sabah student named "Best Delegate" in Asia Youth International Model United Nations(AYIMUN) in Thailand

BANGKOK: A Form Three student from Sabah has received the highest honour at the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) conference held here, further cementing her track record on the international stage.

Alexa Elayndra Adrian Validy, a student of Sekolah Menengah Maktab Sabah, was named "The Best Delegate" in the World Health Organization (WHO) council during the conference, which was held from June 26 to 29.

"I represented WHO council on Safeguarding Indigenous Knowledge of Traditional Medicine While Ensuring Scientific Validation.

"I hope more participants from Sabah will join such program and that Sabah will have its own team for Model of United Nation in the future," she said in a statement.

The Best Delegate award is regarded as the highest recognition presented to participants for their performance in committee debates, diplomacy, leadership and policy-making throughout the conference.

The event was attended by Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand His Excellency Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah.

Alexa received a certificate, trophy and scholarship to next AYIMUN competition in Bali this year.

The latest accolade marks Alexa's fourth award at AYIMUN. She had previously won the "Honourable Mention" and "Best Position Paper" awards in earlier editions of the international conference.
