KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK)'s smart parking application remained unavailable for a second consecutive day today as system recovery works continued.

"Please be informed that system recovery works are still ongoing, and the app service remains unavailable at this time.

"Our team is working to ensure the service can be restored safely and reliably.

"We will continue to share updates through this channel. Thank you for your patience and cooperation," it said in a Facebook post.

DBKK has yet to announce when the service is expected to be fully restored but has indicated that no parking compounds will be issued during the downtime.

The outage affects motorists using the digital parking application to pay for parking in Kota Kinabalu, where DBKK manages 4,005 public parking bays.

DBKK launched the Sabah Smart Parking application in October 2024 as part of its digitalisation initiative to modernise parking management.

The app was later integrated with Penampang's Flexi Parking application following a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between DBKK and the Penampang Municipal Council on March 8 this year.

The integration took effect on March 10, allowing motorists to use either application to pay for parking in both Kota Kinabalu and Penampang.

Meanwhile, in Penampang, which borders the state capital, the local authority has provided motorists with the option of using physical parking coupons during the disruption.
