PETRONAS education sponsorships aim to nurture future-ready Sabah talent

KOTA KINABALU: PETRONAS is strengthening its commitment to education in Sabah by supporting young talents through education sponsorships, talent development and skills training initiatives aimed at building a future-ready workforce.

PETRONAS Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management Datuk Bacho Pilong said the company was encouraged to see more young Sabahans pursuing higher education and exploring opportunities to build a brighter future.

“Every student recognised today carries with them the hopes and aspirations of their families, communities and the state.

“At PETRONAS, we believe that investing in education creates opportunities for individuals while contributing to inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development,” he said.

Bacho said the company hoped scholarship recipients would make full use of the opportunities provided to excel in their chosen fields and eventually contribute to the development of Sabah and Malaysia.

“We hope each of you will make the most of this opportunity, excel in your chosen fields and, one day, contribute meaningfully to Sabah and Malaysia overall,” he said.

Since 1975, more than 40,000 students nationwide have benefited from PETRONAS education sponsorship programmes.

In Sabah, PETRONAS continues to implement various education, talent development and skills training initiatives aimed at equipping young people with the knowledge and capabilities needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic economy.

The initiatives are also intended to support the development of a skilled workforce capable of contributing to the state's long-term socio-economic growth.

PETRONAS said it remained committed to working closely with the Sabah state government and strategic partners to empower future generations through education.

The company said such collaboration would contribute towards building a more prosperous, inclusive and sustainable Sabah.
