The United Buddy Bears World Tour Malaysia 2011/2012 comes to an end with a charity gala dinner today.

Organised by Jojo Events Sdn Bhd and E-plus Entertainment Productions (M) Sdn Bhd, it will be held at the Mayangsari Ballroom in JW Marriott, here.

An auction of limited-edition miniature replica bears measuring 6cm and 22cm in height will be held to raise funds for less fortunate children. Two replicas are hand-painted by Eva Herlitz, one of the United Buddy Bears pioneers.

Half of the proceeds from the auction of Herlitz's handiwork will go to international child-aid organisation Buddy Bear Help, and the remainder donated to local charities including Rumah Nur Salam Chow Kit, Ti-Ratana Welfare Home, Shelter Home for Children, Angels Home for Children and Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor.

E-plus Entertainment Productions chief dreamer Andrew Ching said Malaysia was the first country in Southeast Asia to exhibit the bears.

The 147 life-sized, painted fibreglass bears will travel to India next.

"The international exhibition promotes peace and conveys a message of tolerance," Ching said.

The Malaysian tour sponsors are JW Marriott, Pavilion KL, Kontena Nasional, Bank Pembangunan and City Hall.

Tables at the gala dinner are available at RM50,000 for Diamond, RM35,000 for Platinum, RM25,000 for Gold, RM20,000 for Silver and RM15,000 for Bronze. For details, call Kar Nee at 016-227 3761.
