KOTA KINABALU: "Rumah Terbalik", the first upside down house in South East Asia, has recently opened its restaurant to add value for the tour around the vicinity.
The eatery, named as Manggo Garden Restaurant, is operated by Trekkers Lodge Sdn Bhd.
Its managing director Alexander Yee said they would mainly serve local and traditional food.
"We decided to have those menu as visitors have been requesting the idea to be conceptualise here.
"It is indeed a good idea to take this opportunity to commercialise those ethnic food to tourists,"he said on Wednesday.
Yee added that among the ala carte menu were Kadazandusun's signature salad known as hinava as well as their pickles "bambangan" and "tuhau".
Other must-try local food include "manuk tinapah", fried fish with green chili, sour and spicy oxtail as well as grilled brinjal.
The restaurant will be manned by a local executive chef with almost 20 years experience in preparing those food.
"As for the appetiser, we have 'otak-otak kagong' and smoked meat,"he said adding local fruit drinks are available to help visitors quenching thirst after touring the house.
The eatery of about 100 capacity opens daily from 7am until 10pm.
On Christmas Eve, the operator will be feting 30 orphans at the restaurant as part of their corporate social responsibility.
