KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Health Department aims to improve organ donation and transplant services by educating future health personnel.
Sabah Transplant Resource Centre coordinator Low Lieh Yong said doctors, nurses and others have to be knowledgeable in such services.
"Not every pledger can become an actual donor. The hospital will have to assess whether the organ is still in good condition and if there is a suitable patient waiting for that particular organ," he said at a talk attended by 200 nurses and assistant medical officers here recently.
He said the next of kin must also give a written consent.
