KOTA KINABALU: Bunga Mas Lima, the mothership to boost the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom)'s strength, has arrived at Sepanggar Navy Base near here.
At press time, a closed door briefing for crews was expected to discuss on the operations and timeline to depart to Esszone areas.
The auxiliary ship left Port Klang on Friday, a day before Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the vessel to be stationed at Sabah's east coast off waters bordering the Philippines.
The 132m-long ship would be under the command of Commander Tajudin Abd Rahman.
Navy chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar said as the Bunga Mas Lima would be carrying a RMN AS550 Fennec helicopter, which would be used to conduct sea patrols and interceptions.
Also onboard would be the Navy’s special forces unit’s quick reaction force team (Paskal).
