KOTA KINABALU: A freelance doodler will be collaborating with a blogger to further promote food in Sabah to the world.
Kendrick Ng Tiong Heng, 27, from Tenom who has been doodling since 2005 said he was always passionate in promoting and displaying his homeland through artworks.
“I have doodled music instruments of Sabah, the Mount Kinabalu, places like Tenom and Sipitang.
“I am not really a foodie, although I love Sabah’s Tuaran Mee for its unique egg noodles, but I did some sketches on food such as Penang Laksa and Sarawak Kolo mee when I traveled,” he said, adding he usually brought along a sketch book everywhere to doodle.
When he was recently approached by Sabaheats.com author Joanne Lee, Ng immediately agreed as he thought the collaboration would be exciting as the latter is a foodie.
Ng, also known as Kendy, started doodling to impress a girl but although he failed those artworks drew surprising attention from friends at social media.
As of now, the doodler has about 16,000 followers from Indonesia, Australia, United States, Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand and Brunei.
Meanwhile the online food channel, which also has thousands of followers, provides extensive guidance on street, delicacy, exotic and reviews on food in Sabah.
