Helping MMA athletes stay sharp

KOTA KINABALU: International mixed martial arts fighter A.J. "Pyro" Lias Mansor will offer a mind-conditioning programme for people who want to improve their focus.

A.J., or Ayung Jumat, who is the founder and head coach of Borneo Tribal Squad MMA and Fitness Factory here, will collaborate with neuro-linguistic programming trainer Luke Bong for the programme.

The 42-year-old fighter and seven professional fighters have recently undergone the session.

"I always stress that an athlete's mental preparation is as important as physical preparation. The session with Luke helped fighters to understand how to strengthen their focus as they train and get fight ready," said A.J..

Bong said the programme meant to teach fighters to calm their minds and stay sharp.

"Practitioners will learn how their mind works and to remove bad habits and negative beliefs.

"The programming will eradicate phobias and traumatic memories quickly and safely."

The Borneo Tribal Squad,  a team of amateur and professional athletes based here, was established by A.J. in 2008. The team now includes 10 professional fighters, including women, competing internationally.
