KOTA KINABALU: Things are getting busier at the Chinese consular office here since it was established in 2015.
Consul-general Liang Caide said the office processed more than 25,000 visas and 1,000 documents last year.
He said the consulate could foresee more interaction and transactions in the future as cooperation between the two countries grew stronger.
Liang said this recently during a media briefing on the diplomatic policies as well as China's One Belt and One Road initiative.
Since he took office, Liang said the consulate had always promoted friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
"We make friends with people from all sectors in good faith, dedicating love and care to the local community.
"The consular office also takes time to visit welfare homes, join charity runs, support fundraising events and other charitable activities," he said.
The consul also supports Chinese enterprises in Sabah on economic matters and trade, and provides information and consultation services.
He added that China will continue to implement the policy of bringing harmony, security and prosperity to neighbours.
