Give same amount of allocation to Sabah Chinese Schools.

KOTA KINABALU: It is only fair that Chinese schools receive the same amount of allocation from the state government as other schools, says Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew.
Speaking at the Istana Negeri Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house today, she said she had discussed the issue with state Education and Innovation minister Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob.

“Allocations for schools should be equal. However, this is subject to approval by the state cabinet,” she added.

Responding to an appeal from the management of the Tawau Teachers’ Training College, the Tawau member of parliament said the new state government felt that the teachers’ training colleges in Tawau and Keningau should be maintained and improved.

The previous government had said the two colleges should be closed to make way for polytechnic vocational colleges. Liew said the vocational colleges could be built elsewhere.
Present at the open house hosted by Yang Di-pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, Datuk Jaujan Sambakong and other state cabinet ministers and heads of government departments and agencies.
About 6,000 members of the public visited the Istana Negeri between 10am and 1pm.
