KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Health Department extended its appreciation to the Covid-19 patients and community of Sipitang district for their cooperation in containing the Covid-19 outbreak.
Its director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said the index case was a Sri Petaling tabligh gathering attendee who voluntarily came forward to be screened.
"The patient's three family members were also tested positive.
"All of them have recovered and discharged from the hospital," she said in a statement.
Despite that, Dr Christina said the healthcare staff in Sipitang district were still actively controlling and preventing the infection from spreading.
To date, a total of 5,837 people have been screened and 240 samples taken from the district.
"A collaboration between government agencies, private sectors as well as community in the district had helped the department to contain the Covid-19 disease.
"Sipitang police chief had also reported that the people's level of compliance with the Movement Control Order is at 98.5 per cent."
As of yesterday, Sabah Covid-19 cases were recorded at 308, with no new cases reported.
However, Dr Christina pointed out that the daily statistics were not reflective of the real situation as many samples have yet to be processed.
