KOTA KINABALU: A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 14-months' jail and RM1,000 fine in default two months imprisonment for stealing a 32-inch television.
Razman was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie.
On Feb 17 at 7.58pm, the man was found carrying the television in a box out of a hypermarket in a suspicious manner.
The supermarket security guard went after the man and asked him to produce a receipt of purchase which he was unable to.
Unrepresented, the man will serve the sentence from the date of his arrest.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Suzie Kupit prosecuted.
On a separate case, Stephanie also fixesld Sept 3 for case mention of a woman charged with using fake identification documents.
Rowena Llenado, 38, pleaded not guilty to the charge under Regulation 25 (1) (e) Regulations National Registration 1990 (Amendment 2007).
She committed the offence on July 3, at 9.30am at Universiti Apartment 2 (UA2).
