KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP wants those trying to coerce its party members to crossover to stop doing so.
Its acting state party chief Datuk Frankie Poon said its elected representatives were not interested in any inducement, whether in the form of positions or monetary, to switch parties.
"Enough is enough. We are not for sale. Stop wasting time on us. We started as the opposition then and there is no issue about us being in the opposition now.
"We will only focus on fulfilling the mandate given by the people and concentrate on providing necessary services to them," he told a press conference here, claiming most of them had been approached in a bid to lure them out of DAP.
Present at the press conference were the DAP's assemblymen Jannie Lasimbang (Kapayan), Ginger Phoong (Luyang), Tan Lee Fatt (Likas).
Absent were Sri Tanjong assemblyman Datuk Jimmy Wong and nominated assemblyman Ronnie Loh.
The press conference was also held in a teleconference with Calvin Chong (Elopura), senator Adrian Lasimbang, as well as members of parliament Chang Foong Hin (Kota Kinabalu), Vivian Wong (Sandakan) and Noorita Sual (Tenom).
Jannie, who is also Sabah Women DAP chief, claimed she was approached by two men who wanted her to leave the party yesterday. She subsequently lodged a police report.
"I feel offended by three men who came to my house around 6pm yesterday, I did not know them but they introduced themselves as Jack Sukmin and William Liew.
"They said they were representing the son of Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, to ask me to come out og DAP and join their Perikatan Nasional," Jannie said.
She also claimed to have received some calls from Penampang Umno members.
The state assistant laws and native affairs minister condemned the acts and said the Parti Warisan Sabah-led state government should be allowed to continue its work until the next election.
Others who claimed that they were also offered positions and monetary gains in exchange of leaving DAP were Phoong, Tan, Chong and Noorita.
