KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has been commended for solving the land issues plaguing the people of the state.

Parti Amanah Negara's (Amanah) national youth chief Khairuddin Daud said during the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president's tenure as Chief Minister, the latter managed to solve the issues that had been plaguing the people of Sabah for so long, swiftly.

"The latest handover of land grants involved 4062.32 acres in Sipitang to 249 people from seven villages and another 599 people in Beluran.

"The Chief Minister had also reformed the administration when communal grants (policy) introduced by (former Chief Minister) Tan Sri Musa Aman were scrapped following the requests by the people who want to have full possession of their land grants," he said in a statement.

Khairuddin said the actions taken by Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) which had twisted the facts about the land issues being resolved were disappointing.

PBS secretary-general Datuk Jahid Jahim had criticised Mohd Shafie, claiming the latter had ulterior motives in dishing out land grants as it could have been done by the district officers.

Meanwhile, Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chief Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor had said that Mohd Shafie was merely claiming credit for the results that were the outcome of the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

"Don't they want the people to receive benefits from the government administration?

"By right, PBS as a former party in the state government and PN as a government in the federal, should have supported all efforts in solving the people's problems and not resort to slander," Khairuddin said.

He added that with all the efforts done by the Warisan-led state government, Amanah pledged their support for Mohd Shafie to continue to lead and develop Sabah.
