KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has hinted that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has reached a consensus on a candidate for Sabah's Chief Ministerial position.

When asked about who is being considered for the post, Jeffrey said: "There is only one".

"There is also a possibility that the swearing-in will take place today.

"Whoever is appointed later, I will support him," he said at a hotel here where 41 GRS assemblymen, including 3 independents, are gathered.

Jeffrey, who is Tambunan assemblyman, said the purpose of the gathering is to prepare for the swearing-in ceremony.

"It is also to prepare the necessary documents," he said.

Earlier this morning, the Sabah Information Department said that the Chief Minister swearing-in ceremony will take place at 10.30am tomorrow at Istana Negeri.

In the 16th general election, GRS – comprising Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Star, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Sabah (Bersatu) and Barisan Nasional (BN) – won 38 state seats.

Warisan Plus garnered 32 seats.

Meanwhile, PBS assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said in a Facebook posting that Warisan Plus should accept the outcome of the election.

"My dear friends at Warisan Plus, please hold to your 'In God We Trust' slogan.

"Respect the outcome of PRN16 as God's Will. Thank you."
