KOTA KINABALU: Tongod is now classified as Covid-19 Yellow zone after a positive case was detected in the district today.

However, authorities have yet to disclose the latest case's source of infection. Located in the interior, Tongod had been listed as a Green zone since early this month.

The new case is among the 352 detected today in the state.

Two new clusters have been identified - the first is Sakti Cluster in Lahad Datu and the Tuguson cluster in Kota Belud.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said currently 730 people had been warded with 72 in intensive care units and 27 requiring ventilators.

At the same time, 3,118 of Covid-19 patients were housed at the quarantine or low-risk treatment centres.

"Today, there are 622 additional beds at the quarantine and low-risk centres, which means that the state has 7,859 beds.

"The 500 additional beds are in Tawau prison, 93 in Penampang Cultural Centre and 29 in Kudat rest house," he said in a statement.

Bed occupancy rate to treat Covid-19 cases now stood at 48.9 per cent. The state also recorded 458 recoveries today.

Masidi, who is also state local government and housing minister, said the state government had allowed the utilisation of full workforce in several sectors under agriculture and plantation.

However, for downstream activities and related services under the same categories, only 50 per cent of the workforce capacity was allowed for now.
