Almost half of Sabah's Covid-19 cases from existing, new clusters

KOTA KINABALU: Almost half of the 429 new Covid-19 cases in Sabah or 213 cases today are from existing or new clusters.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said: "The temporary detention centre cluster in Menggatal has contributed 112 cases, and Kota Kinabalu has 161 cases.

"A new cluster reported in Tawau dubbed as the Bukit Gemuk cluster also recorded two cases today. This cluster was detected through close contacts of people with symptoms," he said in a statement.

Today, Sabah also recorded four deaths, three in Sandakan and one in Tuaran.

As for recovery cases, 281 Covid-19 patients have been discharged while 1,846 people are still receiving treatment at hospitals and low-risk Covid-19 treatment centres.

Sabah still has 13 red zones which are Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Tuaran, Penampang, Tawau, Keningau, Semporna, Pitas, Kota Belud, Papar, Putatan and Kudat.

Sipitang and Nabawan remain as green zones while the remaining 11 districts are classified as yellow zones.
