STA holds 'Tourism Got Talent' contest for stakeholders affected by Covid-19

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourist Association (STA) is organising a contest to boost the morale of players in the tourism industry.

The "Tourism Got Talent" contest, which is ongoing until Dec 20, is open to those who was or still part of Sabah's tourism industry for the past three years.

STA chairman Tonny Chew, in a statement, said contestants were required to submit a one or two-minute videos of them showcasing their talents ranging from singing, dancing, baking, cooking or stand-up comedy.

"We want to show our support to all tourism industry workers and ex-workers in Sabah during this tumultuous time.

"The Covid-19 pandemic may have taken away our jobs but it has not taken away our spirit.

"Most of us in the tourism industry is struggling. We believe this contest will give existing workers as well as those who have been retrenched, a welcome distraction and chance to earn some pocket money by showcasing their talent."

He said the first prize winner would take home a cash prize of RM1,000, the first runner-up would win RM750 and RM250 for the second runner-up.

There will also be three consolation prizes to be given away.

The association is the oldest tourism non-governmental organisation in Sabah which was established in 1963.
