KOTA KINABALU: The authorities have widened movement restrictions at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) campus following the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO)
placed on three residential colleges in the district.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that although the authorities had announced yesterday that only three residential colleges would be placed under EMCO, a risk assessment concluded that the net should be widened.

"Based on risk assessment of the Covid-19 infection at the said localities, the health authorities have agreed to implement the order for the whole campus.

"Therefore, the Kota Kinabalu district disaster management committee has mobilised and coordinated the necessary movement at the locations," he said in a statement.

The EMCO will take effect from today until April 18.

No students are allowed to leave campus grounds except with permission from enforcement personnel. School and social activities are also banned during the period.

As for staff, only those in essential services can come to the campus.

"The Health Department will also do targeted screenings on students and staff while the government will arrange food aid to be distributed via district PKOB," he added.

Sabah registered 65 Covid-19 cases today with two deaths recorded in Tawau.
