KOTA KINABALU: A pregnant woman in her final trimester was identified as the index case for the Tanjung Kapor cluster in Semporna.

The 31-year-old woman, who is just over her 27th week, had experienced cramps in her lower abdomen.

"On May 9, she was brought to the district hospital and pre-admission RTK antigen tests showed she was positive for Covid-19.

"Close contact screening found seven out of eight housemates were also infected," state Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said in a statement.

In Kota Kinabalu, SK Kebagu staff and their family members were identified as part of the Kebagu cluster.

The index case is a symptomatic 53-year-old teacher who tested positive after she went for checks at a private clinic on May 3.

Screening was done for 281 people including teachers, school staff and students and 15 were confirmed positive.

Sabah recorded 70 new Covid-19 cases with one death each in Tawau, Papar and Kinabatangan.
