50 percent pay cut for Sabah ministers, assistant ministers

KOTA KINABALU: Members of the Sabah cabinet will have half their salaries cut for a duration of two months.

State Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the savings made from the move will go into a Covid-19 fund, and the directive involves all of the state cabinet ministers and assistant ministers.

All assemblymen from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah(GRS) will also forgo 30 per cent of their pay this month

"All savings will go towards a Covid-19 fund to manage this pandemic.

"We in the GRS Government stand in solidarity with the people in this trying time," he said in a statement.

Hajiji, who is also state Finance Minister, said the decision was made following a cabinet meeting held yesterday.

During the meeting, the cabinet also announced Bantuan Sabah Prihatin 3.0 Covid-19 totalling RM120,469,481 million.

He also added additional food baskets worth of RM34.4 million would be distributed to all sectors affected by the pandemic.
