Sabah MACC nabs man who bribed authorities in relation to gambling activities

TAWAU: The Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has nabbed a man who had been bribing enforcement personnel in the district for years to conduct illegal gambling activities.

The man and two women, aged between 23 and 57, were picked up during a raid at the premises where the illegal gambling activities were held.

According to a source, the man who is believed to be the leader, was active in conducting gambling activities around the town here.

The authority also confiscated RM40,000 and four accounts with RM300,000 believed to be from vice activities.

Apart from that, MACC will be freezing the man's account under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA).

Sabah MACC director S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest and said all suspects were being investigated under Section 16(b)(B) of the MACC Act 2009 and AMLATFPUAA.

All the individuals will be remanded to assist in the investigation.
