TUARAN: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is expected to make a decision soon on the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Its Chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said he met DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng recently and the latter had raised the matter.

"However, I cannot comment until I meet the presidents of all parties in GRS. We will look into it and make a statement soon," said the Chief Minister after launching the state level Socso Urban Poor Career Carnival at Padang Tuaran here.

GRS comprises Barisan Nasional, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Rakyat Sabah, Parti Bersatu Sabah and Sabah Progressive Party.

Yesterday, United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) president, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius said the MoU was initiated for political stability.

Sabah Pakatan Harapan was supposed to have a meeting over the signing last night. It is learned that they will release a statement soon.

Earlier, Hajiji who is also Sulaman assemblyman, said a government initiative via the Social Security Organisation (Socso) had helped 4,864 people in Sabah get jobs within nine months this year.

He added based on Socso's 2020 data, 7,141 of people had also returned to work.

"This shows that the initiative by the government through Socso, under the Pemulih programme, has a positive impact.

"This also helps reduce unemployment among the people and is a good step to revive the national economy," he said.
