KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council member Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin is in stable condition despite being placed in an induced coma after contracting Covid-19.

His special officer Ismail Norazman denied viral messages that Lajim has died.

"He is still stable although critical after being sedated at 2pm. The message (on his death) is fake.

"I hope people will stop spreading and sharing unverified information."Let us pray for the recovery of Datuk Seri, who is receiving treatment at KPJ Hospital in his fight against Covid-19," he said in a Facebook post.

Lajim, who has been warded for 12 days after being infected, had called his family this morning to complain of pain.

He was subsequently sedated.

The 66-year-old Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia executive chairman was admitted to hospital a day after he followed Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor on a visit to Kudat.

Lajim had other health conditions including heart problem, diabetes, high blood pressure and renal problem, but all of them were under control.
