TENOM: A quinquagenarian and a boy were feared drowned when their boat capsized off Sungai Padas at Kampung Kalandos Pangi here.

The district Fire and Rescue Department received a call at 4.13pm saying four people had used a boat to cross the river after coming back from buying necessities in town.

"During the incident, due to the rapid current, the boat suddenly capsized just as it was about to reach the bank. A senior citizen and a woman managed to save themselves.

"However, a 50-year-old and a 10-year-old were swept away," said a spokesman.

The team had to use a train, which is the only transportation in that area, to go to the location to get further information.
