KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno should look into demographic changes and make adjustments to prevent the party being rejected in the 15th General Election (GE15)

Its chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said regardless of how excellent a party had performed before, it would be obsolete if it failed to adapt to the current situation.

"We can no longer rely on history but must show as a party that was born 75 years ago, we are still relevant, suitable and the choice of the people, regardless of place and situation.

"We have to follow and be humble, any party that fails to evolve with the environment, its position will still be challenged," he said.

The Umno supreme council member was speaking during the closing of the prize presentation at the Umno building here yesterday for the party's on-line public speaking competition.

Bung Moktar added the party should look beyond what they had done for the people in the past as they are now struggling with the consequences from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

"What the people want now is immediate action in assisting those who are facing challenges in life, and other issues.

"At the same time, I would like to remind Umno leaders to put people first to prevent the party from being seen as a self-centred one," he said.

As for the contest, Bung Moktar said such virtual activities were the best approach to find talents that the party could use to face the general election.

Kalabakan's Mohd Fikri Mohd Jumat emerged champion out of 23 participants from all divisions in Sabah.
