PENAMPANG: Several areas here were hit by flashfloods and landslides following incessant heavy rain since noon today.

The Penampang Disaster Management Secretariat said in a statement, the affected areas include Kampung Kolopis, Kampung Baru Luyang Bundusan, the Road Transport Department at Bundusan and the Donggongon Sigah roundabout.

"There are also landslides at Sugumau Madsiang along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan," it said.

An evacuation centre at the Penampang Sports Complex has also been activated at 3.30pm today.

Following heavy rain since noon, photos and videos of places inundated emerged on social media and WhatsApp groups.

Even the rarely flooded Pavillion Bundusan area near here was also affected, which saw parked cars partially submerged.

Some people posted that apartment parking areas, such as the one at Beverly Hill and Taman Penampang were also inundated.
