KOTA KINABALU: Former World No 1 Datuk Lee Chong Wei has gifted his badminton racquets to Sabah Yang diPertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni.

Lee, 39, said the racquet for Juhar was used during the Olympics while the other one was used in his last Malaysian Open.

"I know Toh Puan is interested in badminton and she is my fan.

"Therefore, I present racquets as gifts and to motivate badminton players, especially those in Sabah," he told reporters at the Istana Seri Kinabalu after the State Investiture ceremony today.

Lee, who was accompanied by his wife Datin Wong Mei Choo, received the Justice of Peace in conjunction with Juhar's 68th official birthday.

Tomorrow, he is expected to have a luncheon meeting with Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment minister Datuk Seri Jafry Ariffin.
