KENINGAU: The feeling of being amid the clouds and mist is the most sought after experience among hikers, said content creator Ell Si Masta.
The 31-year-old has been documenting famous and hidden spots with such experiences in Keningau via his YouTube channel for almost a year.
One of the beautiful spots is the Seven Sense Hills where he camped overnight with his friend on the concrete hillside facing the sea.
The Hills, located along Jalan Keningau-Kimanis, sits on the Crocker Range which is the largest park in Sabah, and twice the size of Singapore.
"For me, Seven Sense Hills is the best place in Keningau to experience 'cloud carpets' especially in the evening, as though you are on a sea of clouds.
"It has spectacular sunrise and sunset views. It is also for those who are looking for the milky way," he said.
However, Ell reminded that campers have to bring double layer tents and winter clothing as the temperature could drop to below 16 degrees Celsius. He added that the campsite was not suitable for young children due to safety reasons.
Apart from Seven Sense Hills, he said there were many other places that have "cloud carpets" such as Bukit Durian, Bukit Chanang, Bukit Kulanga and the latest, Bukit Naundaragan.
"There might be other unknown hiking sites as I believe there are many more hidden spots in Keningau.
"But now is the time to experience it as the cloud carpets usually happen after the rain," he said.
