KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers arrested a government department senior assistant director for soliciting a RM10,000 bribe.
The bribe was meant to expedite the issuance of land offer letters involving smallholders.
The 54-year-old male suspect was arrested at his office about 3pm this afternoon.
Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest and said a remand application for the suspect would be made tomorrow.
He added that the case will be investigated in accordance with Section 17(a) of MACC Act 2009.
He also did not rule out the possibility of several follow-up arrests to be made to assist in the investigation of the case.
